Prototype of an SIS 100 Dipole for FAIR
The project FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) being constructed at GSI is an international accelerator facility of the next generation. At its heart there is a double ring facility with a circumference of of 1100 meters.
Babcock Noell was awarded the order from GSI to manufacture a prototype of a superconducting SIS 100 dipole magnet as well as the technologically sophisticated superconducting cable fabricated at our plant.
The magnet has been cold tested sucessfully in the meantime.
