Manipulator Systems for Fusion Experiments (TARM jet)
Babcock Noell GmbH designed and manufactured a manipulator for external and internal inspections of the plasma vessel.
To accommodate the very complex working space in the JET fusion plant, this Telescoping Articulated Remote Manipulator (TARM) has 38 degrees of freedom. It is controlled via a special human machine interface featuring a master-slave multi-processor system for a multi-axe manipulator and for automatic operation as a multi-axe robot with 38 axes.
TARM can be used both suspended from a hall crane as well as stationary, mounted to a support frame.
